Dutch design label [mægpai] dresses up Jonnie Boer and butler Librije's Hotel

[mægpai] dresses up chef Librije Jonnie Boer

Dutch Bohemian design label [maegpai] (phonetical pronouncement of magpie ) created two unique jackets for the grand opening of the new Librije's Hotel, owned by Therese and Jonnie Boer. The Librije's Hotel is part of the famous restaurant The Librije in Zwolle in The Netherlands and will open it's doors on may the 25th. During the grand opening of this five star hotel, in the former women's prison of Zwolle, both gastronomic entrepeneur Jonnie Boer and the new attracted butler were wearing a custom-made-jacket made by the dandy label. Those jackets are made by especially selected fabrics which will match with the rest of the hotel interior very well. This is not a coincidence there [maegpai]-jackets are made from interior design fabrics. The shape and fit of this butler jacket will like most butler jackets be traditional; the fabric however will give this outfit a subtle twist. Both Hugo Borst and Beau van Erven Doorns are already spotted in [maegpai]-jackets.

[maegpai] welcome at Pitti Uomo, Florence 9-12th of January; Maikel Bongaerts new designer collections.

In November 2006, maegpai started with slim fit made-to-measure jackets made from various classical interior design fabrics, selected by Dutch designer Monique van Heist who also designed several accessories.

Last fall, renowned shoe designer Jan Jansen designed a special edition men's shoes using the [maegpai] fabrics, for an exposition in the Museum Van Loon during the Amsterdam Design Month. The exposition featured the shoes, together with the matching jackets.
At the Pitti Uomo, maegpai will present its first Fall/Winter collection '08-'09, designed by Maikel Bongaerts. Earlier this year, Bongaerts was awarded the Frans Molenaar Award 2007. The young designer, who graduated from the Fashion Institute Arnhem has been appointed as designer for [maegpai]'s collection.

This new collection is pret-a-porter. Bongaerts designed suits of wearable interior design fabrics, however, this time in basic colors. The collection also features shirts and ties. Classic, slim fit, subtle, yet again with a dandy twist.
[maegpai] is the phonetic Dutch pronouncement of 'magpie', reference to the modern day dandy who takes what he fancies, collects special items and can't be bothered by dictating conventions.

Stoelen op Stand, [maegpai] and Jan Jansen Friday September 21 2007

Whether used in fashion or for interior design purposes, classic upholstry fabrics never loose their timeless attractiveness. The seventeenth century canal palace Museum van Loon offers a unique collection of chairs of all statures. Footwear designer Jan Jansen selected various fabrics from the collection of the modern dandy label [maegpai], which he made into some admirable men's shoes. The shoes will not only be exposed, but they will also be available soon at Jan Jansen's store on the Vijzelstraat in Amsterdam. [maegpai], will offer its fabric book from which you can decide to have your Jan Jansen shoes made on demand. Just visit the exhibition, write down the name of the shoe you like and choose a fabric from the book. Send a mail to info@maegpai.com and we will contact you.

Summer & Composers

During our last event at 5th July, [maegpai] witnessed tantalizing lively music by our modern-day Jazz Composer Anton Goudsmit and his quartet, while enjoying quite some cocktails indeed.Check out the movie at: maegpai.com/bols[maegpai]'s good friends Bols and Redken added a lovely twist of color and hairstyling, making this event a memorable composition by likeminded friends. But in the end, it was your attendence that made tonight a success. We were proud to have so many friends over tonight and we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.
